Comments: In this work, we see some debt to the famous Olympia by Edouard Manet from 1863. Manet shocked many Paris viewers by representing a well-known courtesan on her bed, boldly staring at the viewer. In the AAC watercolor, the woman is also stretched out in an elegant languor that brings to mind her ultimately classical origins, the Renaissance painting by Titian.
