Comments: Tilting Turban by Laurie Spencer is a whimsical ceramic tower of turban-shaped squash, carrots and varied vegetables.  It is also a whistle!  The artist shows an adept facility with clay in this piece, creating both a fluid organic form with subtle vegetal coloration and a functioning whistle.  The whistle form was inspired by ancient pre-columbian ceramic works from Columbia.

Arkansas Gallery Installation, Little Rock National Airport, July 2006
