Comments: With it's picturesque views, this small town and old fishing port on the estuary of the Seine River, on the English Channel south of Le Havre, was  an inspiration for many artists, such as Charles-François  Daubigny, Camille Corot, Johan Barthold Jongkind, Georges Seurat,  Raoul Dufy, and Signac himself. Charles Baudelaire composed the poem "L'invitation au voyage" there;  the essence of which Signac seems to convey in this light, dynamic, and joyous watercolor of three boats racing out to sea with the Côte de Grâce in the background.
